ine and cheese is a familiar combination, and beer and cheese is a worthy pairing as well, but why not try something completely different to wash down with our beer? What could be better than sausage, which comes in countless varieties?

Any good pairings of beer and sausage come to mind?

Here are a few I came up with:

Hefeweizen and Weisswurst (mild white veal sausage from Bavaria)

Dry Stout and pan fried blood sausage.

Rauchbier and Andouille.

Pilsner and Bauernwurst (German sausage with mustard seeds).

Doppelbock and fried Liverwurst.

A hoppy IPA with a spicy grilled Italian sausage.

Any other ideas?

Blood Sausage tastes great, it’s just rich, salty, and a little creamy. Try it at least once.

I love going to russian groceries because they always sell it, it’s a great breakfast food with eggs and toast.

I had some (mustamakkara) for lunch today with lingonberry sauce and it was excellent. Personally, I really like it with a big glass of cold milk. But beer-wise, hm, I’m thinking Dunkel, Schwarzbier or perhaps milk stout. Something with a little more sweetness than a dry stout, not quite as much roasty bitterness, but still willing to harmonize with the richness of the sausage.

I used to have it all the time in UK as "black pudding".
I was under the impression that blood products were banned in food in the USA?

No, I buy blood sausage from a Russian market in my neighborhood and there is also an Oriental grocery which sells frozen beef blood in tubs.
