I read his original Editorial and his follow up. It seems obvious to me that this guy was trolling and we all played right into his hand.

I didn’t object to the original blog by the fat guy. It’s the opinion of the average lager drinker. It’s a view that is pushed through heavy advertising all over the world - beer is simple, tasteless, it’s for knocking back, refreshing the thirst and getting you drunk - the cheaper the better. It’s not an original view, and it’s not interesting. I’m really not shocked that people hold that view. We have such views on RateBeer - people come on here and do a rating of Bud or PBR, saying how blue collar it is, and how we’re all a bunch of wimps for liking foreign beers. It’s an opinion. It’s part of the rich tapestry of the beer world.
What is really cool though, is that the fat guy has published all the responses which show different responses to beer. And publishing Nate’s response is really going to do some genuine good. There are people who will read Nate’s letter and become interested in exploring working class beers from around the world.
