Good call with the straffe Hendrick and des rocs grand cru.
Would be interested to see how those two stood up to westy, chimay, St. B...et al. in a blind taste.

Nobody suggested Malheur 12 yet? (Or is that hard to come by over there?)

Thanks for all the great recommendations...

I wish all of them were available here. Im quite sure I can get my hands on the Urthel, La Trappe, Pannepot and the Rigor Mortis.... I know the Straffe Triple is in Maine but havenít seen the Quad... Ill ask my rep for that distributor if they can get it !

Here is the lineup if it were to happen today....

Westy XII
Chimay Bleu
Rochefort 10
Urthel Samaranth
St Bernardus abt12
La Trappe Quad
Allagash Four
Iron Hill Quad (not around in ME but there has been an offer to bring it : )
Boulevard Sixth Glass

Probably looking to hold this sometime during August... if anyone else in New England is gonna be in the Portland area shoot me a BM and Ill let you know when the date is confirmed. Thinking about 10 beers.... 5-10 people. Blind Tasting... Ill let you know the results.

Malheur 12 is pretty nice. I drink it and the 10 back to back and am pretty much in Belgian Beer Heaven.

Malheur is a very underrated range of beers, they can be great. Personally Iíd say the Malheur 12 is more of a Belgian barley wine or such than a quadrupel really, but style definitions arenít that important if the beer is great I guess. :)

Due to this Iíd probably pair up Malheur 12 with De Dolle Stille Nacht and similar beers for another tasting instead.
