An update about the event:
There was discussion about tickets selling Friday, that idea got scrapped and definitively, without a doubt they will be on sale at 8 AM, saturday, the day of the event.
Tickets will be cash only, we have an ATM, there are others around town, I am hoping people plan as well as they did for the Barrel Aged Day we held, cash made things run smoothly and we appreciate that!
We have determined we need to limit tickets for the pre-sale between 8 and noon. The limit will be 10 tickets per person. This is to keep individuals from cornering the market and/or scalping tickets, which right now seems ludicrous but based on some emails seems like the best way to handle it. The line for tickets and the line for entry are different, getting tickets early doesn’t necessarily have any bearing on where you end up in line for beer, if you want to be the first to get a pour then you will have to get there early regardless. This also keeps it fair for those planning to arrive shortly before the event since they will likely be able to walk up and get tickets and get in line much the same way they would have arrived with tickets purchased for them and gotten in line.
We will likely have over 2000 tickets (will be determined for certain saturday morning) so getting beer shouldn’t be that difficult. The line waiting for the event to start will be inside the roped off area, or on our patio, whatever works best at the time, this is so that people wishing to share beer before the gates open can avoid any possible tickets for open container on the sidewalk.
We will be doing ID’s and wristbands during the pre-sale of tickets as well as during the event. Wristbands simply indicate you are 21 so you have to have one to get beer, getting one as soon as you arrive makes it easier for everybody.
During the event we are going to keep the limit at 10 however since the line will be revolving at that point you can simply get in line as many times as you want if you really want a lot of tickets.
Right now the taps are looking like 1 tap per brewer, and the kegs for that brewer will simply rotate through that tap. When a brewery runs out of beer then things might shift a little bit, but unless we are able to track down an additional jockey box before saturday, that is the plan. The biggest downside is that there will be only 1 place to get berliners, I expect the line to move pretty quickly since there will be no cash transactions and the pours are limited to 1 of each beer (please be reasonable, if you cant actually carry 6 beers dont order 6 beers and hold up the line trying to figure it out.)
The tap list is looking decent, we have a few surprises we are working on, if they are successful we will update before the event otherwise they will be posted that day.
Pour size will be 8 oz.
We are going to have some quick food options available outside, these will be cash only, and should be easy to enjoy standing or sitting. Think food truck style Peg’s. Updates about the food will be on Facebook, should be some tasty stuff.
The inside bar is not part of this event, tickets are not of use inside. The bar will be a CASH bar, and pours will be in our usual glassware. There will be a draft list available, we will have a couple "macro micro" berliners on, like Oarsman from Bell’s and possibly Festina Peche from DFH. To be extra clear THE BAR INSIDE IS NOT PART OF THE BERLINER EVENT! Tickets at the bar = a friendly reminder that they can only be used outside for the berliner bash. The restaurant will be open, people wishing to enjoy berliners and a pleasant day dining at Peg’s are more than welcome to do so. Seating on the patio is for everybody, bash attendees and folks who have no idea whats going on. We will have servers for the tables, and normal table service for the full menu, special event food as well as 11 of our taps inside, plus bottles and N/A beverages. Please keep in mind we are designed for 75 diners and drinkers and though we are making preparations for many more than that table service will be as fast as we can make it. For faster food, the special event food vending spot on the side of the building is the place to go.
Completely unrelated to Berliner’s will be Rare DOS. We have a little bit that wasn’t ready for the barrel aged day release so we are going to put it on during the bash. I imagine we will tap it at noon, it will be inside, it will be part of the cash bar and not technically part of this event. Rare DOS will be the 12th tap and not available for table service.
We will have some tables and chairs, we are encouraging people who have their own folding chairs for events to bring them out. If anybody has a pop up tent, the more the merrier, we are getting as many as we can but its likely going to be sunny and hot so shade might be at a premium.
This, plus the othe
