I was in London this past June. After a morning of sightseeing, my group began to look for a place to grab a sandwich and a pint. We stumbled across a place near the Tower Bridge called Dean Swift. Nice little pub, clean, not terribly crowded. Ample beer offerings were written on a chalkboard. There were saisons, pales, browns, bitters and the like, but I spied a pale ale called "Buckeye." Naturally, being from Ohio, I had to order it. It was golden in color with lots of fresh hop aroma. Low alcohol (around 3.5% ABV), but very flavorful. I learned later that it’s brewed by an outfit called Roosters in Yorkshire and the beer is "named after a rare breed of chicken that originates from the state of Ohio in the USA." It was very good. So, to my fellow beer drinkers in the UK--Cheers and Go Bucks! |
