Its local and its a winner so i dont see why not. In fact, while Im in the area, I might see if I can bag the entire Aston Manor range of top quality beverages.

Im sure the day-trippers will have a spiffing time on the train but well be well installed in Birmingham by then.

Arrive at about 14:00 on Friday 5th. Head for home just after 14:00 on Monday 8th. Staying at some newly built Holiday Inn Express gaff near Snow Hill station - Chiltern trains from Marylebone were considerabley cheaper, if a little slower.

So, if anyone is up for meeting up on Friady afternoon/evening or Sunday wed be game. I imagine Ruth will have a punishing place rating schedule in mind though.

McEwans Export cans to be drunk on the train on Saturday morning is mandatory.

My other little project for the weekend is to recompile a list of the beers that I bagged on a visit to Birmingham and environs in 1977, work out which ones still exist and try to revisit as many as possible.

I should be able to make it for a couple of pints in Birmingham early Friday Evening.

Do it. A pub crawl with Chris and Ruth is something you should not miss. A great couple. As Ive said often on this site, Id rather go down the pub with Chris than any other regular Ratebeerian.

Fellow reprobates

I spoke to Cotteridge Wines this week about the event. They are delighted that youre all going, this beery lark is all still relatively new to them (though you wouldnt know it from looking at their shelves) and they really do feel humbled youve chosen them. Me and Dommod2011 will see you all there. Theyre going to put on 2 or 3 beers for everyone to sample some of their more unusual US imports I think and will have crisps./nuts etc for snacking. Theyre clearing out a back room for you all to use but Im fairly certain youll spend all your time browsing I go there about once a week but an hour is never enough for me.

See you all soon.

Indeed, looking forward to seeing you all there. Cotteridge Wines is a truly spectacular place, good times guaranteed, great range of beers to explore and very generous of them to lay on some samples.

See you there,

Dom
