hat are some bottles people have that for various reasons you just can’t bring yourself to open?
I noticed today that I have a number of bottles in my cellar that I walk by or stop and pick up but put back down again because I just can’t bring myself to drink them. Some, like Dogwood Youngblood and Heavyweight Jackelsdricka are there because I can’t get them again but at the same time, they will not last forever. Others, like a 750 of Dark Island Reserve are there because I couldn’t drink the entire bottle of something so rare all by my lonesome. Still others, like most of the barleywines I ended up with that are in big bottles, I’d probably pass out after drinking. What about the rest of you?

I’m tired of having a "cellar" and have been trying to drink, share, trade and give most everything away. My place has far too much brew for one man.

I have a number of irreplaceable gems. I save my rare beers to split with a friend here in town.
To be specific, my last bottles of Festina Lente and older Drie Fonteinen Gueuze, my "archive" of Captain Lawrence beers including Xtra Gold #1, Cuvee de Castleton and others, HW Ste-ve, and several others I can’t think of...

I have never really had something super-rare or anything, but I have never had a problem opening a beer.
I am happy to say that every "rare" or hard to find beer I have had I’ve been able to open and share with friends that will enjoy them.
It’s just beer.

The only thing I can think of that’s completely off limits is a bottle of Manhattan Project given to me by John Harris.
I’m sure I’ll drink it sooner or later, but I need a few masochists to help me.

This question definitely goes both ways. The rare and the horrifying. I’ll say the bottle of Sprecher Mbege that’s been residing in my fridge for months now. It can’t be good.

Several dozen bottles that are too good to drink alone.
I live alone, and happily crack bottles all the time even if I am by myself, but can’t justify trading for something or otherwise going to great lengths to get something and then drinking all of it. Aged, not distributed here, specials/one-offs, exceptionally good stuff, you get the idea.
Big bottles of high-grav stuff, same deal. If they’re nothing too special and I want something to sip for several hours on a Saturday, maybe I’ll crack one.
All that being said, I’m trying to spend (and drink) less. Moving surplus from my waistline to my credit card if possible. So I’m slowly, but only slowly, eroding into the cellar.

I sit and brood when im about to open a sam adams.
i then realize its much better in my mouth on its way to my stomach rather than it sitting there taunting me with its sophisticated yet nonchalant aura.

I’ve got a couple bottles of Two Brothers Opus 10 I bought a year ago. Waiting for that "special" time since it was pretty much a one shot beer.
