12-14?
You need an assistant. I put in 50-60 hours a week. Never more than that.
As far as my week? I have brewed 6 batches. Transferred 8. CIP’d 10 tanks. Cleaned 50 some kegs and filled just as many. Good week though. Good week.

It has gotten very hard to get a brewing job in the US without a degree or prior experience.

I bottled some beer tonight and I had to clean a keg so that I can keg a beer I have in the primary. As much as I love beer and love to make it, I dread the simple homebrew tasks and in my heart of hearts can’t imagine having to do those tasks daily. Of course what is considered "work" in my free time might not be so if I got to do it for a living, provided I was able to keep all the positive aspects of brewing such as designing recipes and trying new things.

what kind of a degree are they looking for?

Cant speak for Jeff, but a brewing degree is preferred. Though a degree in microbio or chemistry couldnt hurt...

Siebel, Davis or the Guild will ussually get your foot in the door. If you want a QC job where you are not a blue collar guy, a degree from Herriot-Watt, University of London, Catholic University of Leuven, or Weihenstephen is a good place to start.
It’s not that you simply can’t get a job in a brewery without one. But you will be starting on the bottling line or keg cleaning, or something pretty undesirable if you don’t and with lower pay. Let me tell you, getting paid less than I do is not a good thing.
