For years some Belgians have been giving small cubes of young Edam or Gouda (or a local Belgian equivalent) with each beer in their bars as a free compliment, sometimes other stuff, like raddish or salted biscuits come with the beers. They often sprinkle Celery Salt on the cheese cubes, or a blob of mustard might be on the dish as an alternative. |
Brugge (or an equivalent) cheese with Belgian mustard and celery salt is so good. Eat it every night with beers when I’m in Belgium. |
I bought 6 bottles of it on my last trip. Almost running out again. Had some popcorn last night with celery salt. Sausages tonight with celery salt. I put it on everything. |
Celery Salt + Sriracha on Bacon is divine. |
An ingredient in a Rhode Island Hot Weiner so fuck yea I’m a fan. |
Sounds tasty with some styles, do they do this with everything ? I wouldn’t like celery salt with a dubbel |
I was at a beer tasting in late 1980s or early 1990s where Belgian beers were being served as the ambassador from Belgium was in town, They had Belgian endive, Belgian chocolates and Belgian beers (the company I worked for back then had donated many cases of various beers). I was not quite prepared for beer going so well with chocolate, and uncertain if the stuffed endive was flavored with celery salt or not, but paring tasty food with beer should never be overlooked. |

So I need to get some of my friends who are temporarily in Belgium to get me some. Cool. |
