Does anyone know what have changed in the weighting avg? a lot of beers that I keep an eye on (with few ratings) just got a huge boost and quite a few bumped into the top50. |
Whatever has changed in the algorithm seems to have removed a weighting on the number of ratings, allowing "latest hype" beers to get to very high positions with very few ratings. This seems to me to detract from the validity of the top rankings and will almost certainly result in a bunch of highly rated one off festival releases or whatever taking higher spots than proven classics. |
Without going into detail. Not removed any weighing, merely a slight sensitivity adjust after a lot of analyzation across the database. Expect things to even out over time. |

14% of the top 50 are Alesmith Speedway Stout variations. |
Really? You changed the algorythm behind the top (2)50? As someone who had set a personal goal of rating 125 of the top 250, that really sucks. The top rated beers were enough of a moving target without any changes in the rules. Couldn’t the top (2)50 stat be left alone and a new stat be added to satisfy whatever this is all about?!? |
Then we are back to how it was 6 - 8 years ago. E.g. this one was inside top 50 before ratings levelled the scores out, and thats going to happen again. |
A quick calculation for the one with the lowest ratings suggests m is 3.26675, pretty quick convergence. |
what the... how is this even possible. imperial stout top 50 list. |

Founders bourbon barrel imperial stout is 4,13 and not close to being at the top 50 which now starts at 4,17 3. Voodoo black magic pappy is neither there. 4,13 in average? 4. SR-71 is 4,15 which is close but not enough yet. Are we seeing different things here or did you mix some of them up? :) |
EDIT: SR-71 is 4,15 and not 5,15 ofc. haha :D |
