ust as a matter of interest with beer prices continually on the rise in the UK lately whats the cheapest pint you’ve had recently? Last night I had Titanic Last Porter Call at £1.09 a pint, admittedly it was in The Exchange a JDW pub in Banbury, but it was a very decent pint and that is unbelievably cheap.

depends what we’re calling recently... until a month ago the George IV in Sheffield was selling Wentworth Imperial for 99p a pint. It was then briefly £1.10, but now sadly has gone up to £1.80, despite the original claim that the price was fixed for a year

a couple of Sheffield pubs offer cheap beer during their quizes, believe in the Fat Cat it is £1.20, in the KIT I can’t remember if it’s £1 or £1.50

Don’t the Sam Smith’s pubs in London sell the Old Brewery Bitter at a ridiculously low price? I paid £1.67 I think last time I was in the Cittie of York about a year ago.

Local ’Spoons £1.89

Pubs in Kent £2.30-£2.80 for bitter depending on strength

My favourite though is the Brew Wharf in Borough Market, £3.40 for beer they brew on site.

In Liverpool at the weekend, Ship & Mitre still very competitive around £2.10-£2.40 a pint depending on ABV.

For anyone who wants those prices in Euros or US Dollars, then the exchange rate is 1.992 for USD and 1.274 for Euros.

Leaving Spoons and Sam Smiths aside, the cheapest regular beers I know here in Derby are the Brunswick’s own, starting at GBP 1.50.

I’ve just checked the beer board of the Wellington in Birmingham which used to have relatively cheap Black Country beer on but at the moment has a 3.8% beer at GBP 2.60 and a 7.2% IPa at GBP 3.80...

and going up a lot lot higher! the 1.50 was on a specific beer was it not, highlighting duty issues. was in last week and their own beers were extortionate - must be the transport costs of getting them from one end of the building to the other. as for the guests...

Dunno how much Holts is these days, I suspect around £1.80 a pint or even less, but then it tastes like the nasty cheap swill it is.

Sam Smiths is almost certainly the cheapest cask ale in the UK across a tied estate.

1.70 for White Feather, 1.90 for Triple Hop, The Usual is around the two-quid mark. I wouldn’t call that extortionate. But the guest beers seem to be wedged uncomfortably into the 2.50-ish mark.
