nybody tried both batches of this yet? The 2nd batch was released very recently. I think the 1st batch was great, wondering about how the 2nd batch stacks up.

I had a bottle of batch two last week and I was impressed. I thought batch one was good but it didn’t wow me like other RR sours. Batch 2 seems more in line with the quality of the other RR sours. cheers! 7/1/2009 7:46:59 PM

I read somewhere that Vinnie thinks Batch 2 is better, and that Batch 3 (currently in barrels) will be the best of the bunch.

Personally, I’ve only tried Batch 1 when it was very young. While it was very good, I though it could use some time.

P.S. I have several Batch 1 bottles but none of the Batch 2. If anyone wants to swap out a Batch 2 for a Batch 1, let me know.

I read that as well. I’ve got a bottle of batch one but decided to give it a little time. Looking forward to possibly trying batch 2 as well and compare.

batch 2 came out at least 2-3 months ago. i’ve heard its a lil smoother than batch 1, but both batches are still available in stores. batch 3 is supposedly at least a few more months out. 7/1/2009 8:07:36 PM

To answer my own question I have cracked a bottle of batch 2. Wow...so far I do believe it is superior to batch 1. The brett component is so well-melded with the barrel and the fruit, and it is really an outstanding offering. I think batch 1 was an awesome wild ale, but this one does seem more cohesive. 7/1/2009 8:46:03 PM

I’ve only recently tried batch 1, but I tried batch 2 during the same week.

Batch 1 is a treat at the moment. The fruit comes across sharply in the aroma which I find considerably more interesting than in Batch 2.

Batch 2 I found indeed smoother, perhaps even rounder at this point. It is very soft-edged, but less aromatic, less tannic, less vinous.

Both are remarkable.

I’ve got 3 bottles of Batch 2 inc. I’ll pass judgement when I get one. I didn’t really think about the fact that the beer would change from batch to batch but I really should have known better. I ordered those 3 bottles for aging. But I’m definitely gonna crack one when I get it to compare. 7/1/2009 10:45:59 PM
