ell I live in Las vegas and I’m going to the liquor store tonight. There is a pretty big beer selection and I was wondering if someone would give me advice on what to try. I love trying new beers every weekend. I really like Stone and Rogue brews but I want to try something else, any suggestions?

What style(s) do you enjoy? Just pick some out and try them as that’s the only way you’ll know what you like and what you dislike? Variety is the spice of life!!

True, I really like porters and ales, and I also like IPA. Is Dogfish a good brand to try?

I strongly believe that when starting out the best way to go is just pick up random/semi-random stuff and figure things out on your own. Before you get comfortable and fairly knowledgeable doing that, I wouldn’t turn too heavily to specific recommendations or the "top" lists on this site. I believe this for a variety of reasons that I won’t bore you with, but chief amongst them is that finding things on your own is just most enjoyable.

Definitely try the Dogfish Head 90 minute. There will be some disagreement as to the quality of some of their products. I personally like pretty much whatever they make with some misses here and there. Its one you’ll have to form your own opinion of.

Especially in Vegas. You never know where those tourists have been.
But as far as beer goes, my advice is to try one each of anything that looks interesting - and take notes. After a while you’ll start forgetting if you had something already until you buy it again and then remember how much it sucked. Meanwhile, you overlooked that gem that you found and forgot.
Once you find a brand or style you like, try others of that same brand or style.

I’ve tried putting them on before bed, but I toss and turn a lot during my sleep and they always fall off by morning and I have to fish them out from the tangle of sheets at the bottom of the bed.
