No. I arrive in Bamberg sunday and leave wednesday morning.

Fab. See you there on Mon or (and) Tue then! No crowds, no waiting in line for beer. Well, also no Witzgall Keller...weekends only, but that can also wait til next time.

Well now, perusing the map, I see that Hallerndorf-Kreuzberg is listed as one "restaurant", not the brewpub and two Bierkeller(s), all separate business entities as it should be. And the map locatorís in the wrong place, should be where "Brauhaus am Kreuzberg" is when you zoom in.

UPDATE: Iíve fixed the following:
Also, the brewery owned by Friedel in Schnaid http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/state/city/placename/5904.htm is listed as "Brauhaus am Kreuzberg", but thatís wrong. Itís where Gšnstaller brews his beer now, the Friedels donít brew there any more.

Be careful, donít anyone get lost!

Okay, I seem to have cleaned all that up: Gšnstaller in Schnaid, the three places on the Kreuzberg, and added the Lieberth Dorfkeller & Rittmayer Gartenkeller in Hallerndorf. Had to fudge the addresses for Schnaid & Kreuzberg though, theyíre not 100% correct, but are well positioned on the map. If there was a field for GPS coordinates.....

Jawohl! I know Frank, who runs it, via Franconianbeerguide.com. I have to admit Iíve not bought his CD of data, since Iíve found enough info for my needs on the internet already, especially http://www.franconiabeerguide.com/cities.asp and his "county"-based maps, the most important of which are:

http://www.franconiabeerguide.com/map.asp?Region=bamberg
http://www.franconiabeerguide.com/map.asp?Region=Erlangen
http://www.franconiabeerguide.com/map.asp?Region=Forchheim
http://www.franconiabeerguide.com/map.asp?Region=Lichtenfels

His GPS data are pretty good, nearly perfect AFAIK. Also, openstreetmap.org is great for planning foot and bike tours. And their public transport layer looks to be fairly comprehensive, but you have to plan bus trips into the countryside *carefully*, taking into account holidays, school closures, and the vagaries of driversí moods. (And their needs for smoke breaks.)

I do use bierkeller.by a lot, but *some* of their GPS data is wonky, unfortunately.

Nick, the Ganstaller brewery in Schnaid is not open to the public, there are no visiting hours and thereís no public space, so the "donít get anyone lost" - well, maybe people wouldnít lost but they wouldnít be happy to show up at a brewery not open.

the best move here is to leave it as Gasthof Friedel and mark it as closed on the Edit Place page.

Is Gasthof Friedel really closed though? Last I heard they still open for business, especially in winter or when the Brauhaus am Kreuzberg is closed. Itís the house in front of the brewery.

But why not have both: the Gasthof Friedel as a bar/restaurant assicoated with Brauhaus am Kreuzberg, and the brewery associated with Gšnstaller? They now operate as two distinct operations.

FWIW, putting "Schnaid 10" in googlemaps also shows up as the Kreuzberg, strangely. "Schnaid 14" and "Schnaid 12" both work to show the correct location (within a few metres anyway) of the Gasthof and brewery in Schnaid. Since thereís no more precise way to do it.

In that case you shouldnít have changed it to Ganstaller in the first place! If Friedel is open to the public it should have a place. Ganstaller brewery in Schnaid should not have a place since it is production only and not open to the public. So Friedel should be active in Schnaid, and the Ganstaller brewer page lists the Schnaid address, but for place we shouldnít list the brewery.

Well, in my defen[cs]e, I thought I was changing the *brewery* listing for that location from Friedel to Gšnstaller, since it was listed as a brewery. I didnít realize that a place listing wasnít appropriate for a brewery that isnít open to the public or something.
