Lambrate Ghisa. Gutted for Croatia- contained the Spanish brilliantly, should have had a pen at 0-0 when Busquets tried to undress that chap on the line. The Italians squeak through yet again. On the plus side, from an English perspective would FAR rather face Italy in the quarters than Croatia.

Who the hell should I root for now? If the circumstances were normal, it’d be Germany. But them winning the tournament would make this POS happy, so I can’t.

Oh, well... Go Czech Republic? Or whoever goes through from the 4th group, ’cept maybe England... though I’d be glad for you guys here who rooted for us... But Webb...

Man, I see so much corruption or sheer incompetence here and I get to see it directed against us at this level too. If I didn’t love the game so much, I wouldn’t watch a single match ever again.

I’m never that bothered in tournament football about who you meet, you should just go into every game believing that you can win, you get who you get just live with it. On radio 5 they seem a little critical of Spain, seem fairly convinced that as good as they are they are beatable, one good performance out of three against a team who lost every game, means they have work to do (not my words) Germany didn’t muck about, three games, three wins.

Gutted for Croatia. Great tactics and application. Bilic is an excellent manager.

Yep. I prefer the knock out stage. Simply beat every team you meet. That’s how to win big tournaments.

I’m not a fan of the group stage. It’s messy, complex and can produce the wrong result in which a team who only win one game gets through while a team who wins two can get knocked out (in different groups of course). The group stages are also boring compared to the knock out stages.

I’m drinking Boondoggle.
