Hi! |
Mine was flat too. I see the ratings on RB all saying quite the same. No idea if this is supposed to be like this. |
Both bottles of 2014 Version I have tried so far were basically flat. Perfectly fine for a fruit lambiek in my opinion. |
It was still perfectly fine as a fruit lambic with a nice raspberry presence and some suitable funk in the taste but having tried the last vintage before this one that wasn’t flat I can say that it’s a completely different and not as good experience. Fairly dead in the nose and not as liveley and bursting of fruits and funk as that vintage. |
Isn’t the general consensus that 2014 needs a few more years to develop? Pretty sure I heard people saying similar things about 2011 when it came out. |

Not sure how much sugar is left to improve carbonation over time. Don’t get me wrong. The beer is great but it was a pity it was flat and it seems it’s not just our bottle that had this "problem". |
Flat is fine with me but anyone that wants carbonation, just wait 1 more year. I’ve had supposedly flat lambiek carbonate after 5 years in the bottle. Sometimes, it just needs time. |
I just asked Tomme Arthur and he said its an English Barleywine style fruit Lambic and it is supposed to be like that. |
That’s a kinda interesting (and fairly funny) statement since I don’t remember the 2011 vintage as flat at all. But it’s a matter of taste. I do enjoy my lambics sparkling and champagne-like. |
For the record, I didn’t talk to Tomme. I was poking fun at the 2008 or 2009 Angel Shares. The one that was completely flat, but ’it was intended to be that way because "it’s an English style barleywine"’ |
