Unless you like beer that will make you fart and shit like a maniac. Excessive flax seed oil will make you do that. 7/1/2009 1:02:07 PM

yes, bad idea. oxidation and off flavors among other things.... flax seed has a very high fat content which is never a good addition 7/1/2009 1:06:41 PM

I figured this much, the wife thinks it would be a cool idea. I figured it was, for one reason or another a crappy idea. 7/1/2009 1:14:28 PM

Flax seeds contain omega-3 fatty acids (which raise HDL cholesterol and lower LDL cholesterol). Fish oil tabs (for their omega-3’s) are the only dietary supplements endorsed by the American Heart Association. Many people take these supplements daily. If you could make a beer with meaningful omega-3’s, and people could get their necessary supplement that way, you could make a million. Lots of "ifs", but this might be an idea worth experimenting with. 7/1/2009 1:24:36 PM

This is why my wife wanted to throw flax seed in the mash in the first place (the omege 3, not the million)

Actually, the flax would probably PREVENT oxidation.

Just can’t add a lot of it.

yeah, true... but if you used more than a pindrop (literally) wouldn’t it be more of a detriment?
