I’m visiting Chicago this weekend, but making a trip to Michigan on Sat. Which of these 3 breweries should I visit
But the proper answer is to spend a really awesome afternoon and evening at Dark Horse.

This is definitely true, Dark Horse is only about 25-30 miles East of Bells if I remember correctly, and it’s for sure the most unique experience out of all of them if it’s doable.

Founders is actually further than Bells. But I’ll add a vote for Founders. The beer is better there and improving whereas I feel that the beer at Bells has pretty much stayed stagnant/gotten slightly worse over the last few years.

Founders is a great brewery to check out, but Bell’s recently updated eccentric cafe is a lot of fun too! If you happen to hit up Bell’s and have a little extra time, you should head an extra 25-30min further east and check out Dark Horse in Marshal, MI. Their tap lineup isn’t overwhelming, but the food is amazing and the guys there are really cool and happy to give you a tour. The beer garden is beautifil this time of year and they have a lot of bands and live music. Check out their website and see if they have anything interesting going on when you’ll be around that way... I think they still list what they’ll have on tap.

Whoops, missed the posts above, sorry... Yes, Dark Horse is worth the trip. If nothing else to see the hundreds of handcrafted beer mugs hanging precariously overhead. (No you can’t buy them... yes, I’ve tried.) They have great Summer events going on all the time... it’s always fun and the locals are actually really nice to talk/hang out with.
