FT: B. Nektar Dark Dark Goose

This one has a pretty awesome story behind it.

B. Nektar made a coffee mead, and began aging it in a Heaven Hill barrel. After 6 months the barrel sprung a leak.

Last October B. Nektar co-founder Brad drove his piece of junk car to Chicago to meet with the head of Goose Island’s barrel program. He returned (on the roof of his car) with a coveted barrel that was used to age their Bourbon County Stout. Then aged the coffee mead in this barrel until just recently.

I was also informed that the BCBS barrel still had roughly 10 gallons of BCBS in it still which they blended with their coffee mead.

Not sure the count, but it was $25 for a 375ml bottle.

Plus the whole experience was kind of a pain-in-the-ass. DEFINITELY should be factored in trade value.

While it was a small pain in the ass waiting in line, they had a band playing, and a server actually sold me drinks while I was waiting in line. So nothing required for the extra effort ;)
Plus I got to try Heart of Darkness. WORTH IT!
