Perhaps I have not raised my daughter right, but her boyfriend’s dad processes game and has offered me a quantity of free ground gator.

I’ve had gator before, it just tastes like clams/tough pork.

Has anybody actually got a gator recipe that they actually like, where chicken/pork/clams, wouldn’t be a better alternative?

Actually, anything passable would suffice. There’s always the FSU v. UF game in the late fall and gator fritters would be consumed regardless of whether they were tasty.

I’ve had it breaded and fried and of course it was delicious. Also grilled and it was succulent and tender.

If you’re afraid any meat will be tough, you can grind it, add filling like onion, bread crumbs, egg, spices and grill or fry it as a patty.

Depends on which part of the animal and wether it was farm raised or wild. I’ve had farm raised tail meat that was cut into small pieces and fried and was delicious. I’ve had grilled rib meat from a wild caught gator that was fishy, gamey, and hard to eat.

For whole meat pieces, my grandmother used to soak almost anything that had a "gamey" taste to it in coke. I’m not sure this would work with ground meat though.

This is the way to make it. Load that ish on a Po Boy with a good remoulade and pair with a Hurricane or Hand Grenade for the ultimate N’Awlins experience.

I’ve also had alligator tail prepared like steak. Tough and chewy; the sausage is definitely better.

I had it in New Orleans and watched Zydeco dancers as I ate it. Probably tail meat based on others opinions here. So much good food in New Orleans!

It’s delicious fried. Soak it in buttermilk. Bread it and go to town.
