TABC laws can be very vague.... Here is a little taste of the "Excessive Discount"...for example, we got in trouble for giving away the 10th keg of beer for free.....Mr. G’s and S&K also got hit because they were selling every 5th keg 1/2 off....Officer said that it was considered "excessive discount". Also was told that a select groups of people are not allowed to be the only people to get discounts....it’s considered discrimination.

TABC laws are not only very confusing, but typically the officers do not even know the laws completely and rely on a human to eventually just "make a decision" when no rule exists but they feel something is unfair. I suppose the point I’m trying to make is that I’m not disagreeing that an officer may have told you that, but what they told you also may not have been true and accurate according to their own rules.

On top of all of this, the code may not be where that rule or law is written. I’m not claiming to be accurate or correct on the matter, just saying that I didn’t immediately find it in the code itself and was simply asking if you knew where it was. Your snarky reply could have been avoided with a simple "No I don’t".

EXACTLY!!!! so thats what we have to go by....hell, just ask one if it is legal to sell N/A beer to a minor....one will say yes, one will say no.....sooooo, we just don’t do it.....same way with the discounting thing....we kinda have to play off of the vague laws.

I imagine the way around this would be to have a buyer’s card like Mr. G’s and Majestic have, where they give you discounts based on the fact that you’re registered with them. The program is available to everyone to sign up for though, which makes sense. Then it isn’t discriminating.

Wait. You can’t give a military, senior, student, etc discount (probably 10%) because you gave away a keg (an excessive discount of 100%)?
