was given a draught sample of a beer identified by the barman as "Kasteel Honey" and it certainly smelled and tasted of honey. I have never encountered a beer by that name and haven’t encountered one on the site. I thought it might be a different brand by Brouwerij Van Honsebruck, but still hasn’t found any lead as to what it might be.
Any help would bee much appreciated,
thanks in advance.

Think you nailed it.

Kasteel Blond - 7.0 vol% - Castle Brewery Van Honsebrouck

Smelling and tasting immediately gave HONEY flavors !!
My first thought: This is a honey beer !

I read my notes for the Kasteel Blond 7% which i have already rated and found no traces of honey, while what i tasted was so sweet and full of honey, also the barman told it was not one of the "regular" Kasteel beers. 5/30/2009 5:01:33 PM

I just read in an israeli website about a new beer by Kateel called "Kasteel gold" which is made with the addition of local honey. Does that ring a bell for anybody, since i have not found any other listing for it? 7/4/2009 5:10:32 AM

Yeah, found the article and got it translated.

Definitely says that it’s the national? premiere at the Temple Bar.

Kasteel Gold, 8.5%, made with local honey, and some Gueuze by van Honsebrouck (St. Louis?) at 4.6%.

I’m not the local expert on all matters Belgian, but I’d add the Kasteel as a new beer myself and it’s definitely a nice catchthumbs up. Wouldn’t surprise me if it was made specially for the Israeli market or something (with possible wider distribution later on).
