About the top 50 highest rated beers.... There is a minimum amount of ratings for the beer needed to enter this list.
I know some things have changed about this recently, But I am left with this question. Searching the FAQ did not make me much wiser ;

’depending on the amount of ratings on the current top 50 beers’ - what does that mean ?
Above average of the amount of ratings on current top 50’s doesn’t seem appropriate when seeing beers with 61 ratings in the top 50.
Perhaps lowest amount minus a number? but this would cause numbers required to drop fast.
Over the smallest number? There always would be a smaller number, thus getting automatically deleted in a loop until the 50 most rated beers are left.
So yeah, I’m thinking there’s a number involved, depending on the zone of the medium of the amount of numbers. FI , between 100- 200 medium amount of ratings, the bottom number is 50. between 200-300 the minimum is 60, ...

So 2 questions ;
- how does it work ?
- what is the number now ?

You need 10,885 beers to enter the top 50: http://www.ratebeer.com/Users/TopUsers.asp

Do you mean -- How many perfect 5.0 scores would a beer need to get an adjusted score of 4.17 and be in the Top 50? http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/top-50/

Doesn’t have to be restricted to perfect 5’s. I see a lot of beers above the 4,17 weighted AVG border to currently enter the top 50. They aren’t in there, since they have to little ratings. So I started wondering, when they cán enter the list.
I know meads, (ice) ciders and saké’s are also not listed in the top 50, so this question is strictly for beers with the high weighted AVG, but low amount of ratings.

Ahh gotcha gotcha. I don’t know when it was implemented, but it does look like there is now a 50 rate minimum to get on that list. I paged through a few pages, and there are several with rate counts in the 50s, and none in the 40s.

There’s something kind of beautiful about it requiring 50 ratings to be considered for the Top 50.
