Anyone know of trips that combine the two things in any organized way? |
Beer mile. |
Makes me wonder how many breweries/pubs are located along the Appalachian Trail... |
I’ve done a crap load of hiking/beer trips from vacation to day trips but I organize myself. I haven’t heard of any specific running beer trips. I do know of a cycling/beer tour. And here in NYC there is a company that brings people a couple hours north for hiking or kayaking with brewery or distillery visits. I’m sure some googling will turn up something it must exist, you could do yourself easy enough but wouldn’t have group dynamic. |
Mikkeler bars all have running clubs |
Nice beername, btw |
Every brewery around here in our small community has a once a week or bi-weekly fun run that is about 3 miles. Maybe just check their web sites or facebooks. |
Every vacation I have consists of going for a long run or race then hitting up brewpubs. math is fun, and math says beers are 130-160 calories for 12 ounces, and depending on your weight a mile running burns 130-160 calories; Not as beautiful math as the Fibonacci sequence, but good enough to know to make up for brewpubbery on vacation. |
As a runner I’ve always been intrigued by Médoc Marathon in Bordeaux, but I’ve never heard of anything comparable for beer. A good approach, as you suggest, is to do a long run (I ran 12 miles into work n DC today) and then enjoy yourselves afterwards, having earned your right to imbibe. |
Just combine a race and brew tour. |
There are Mikkeller running clubs all over the world, not all linked to Mikkeller bars. Usually once a week i think. Some link up numerous bars, others involve a run that finishes in a different bar or brewery each week. |
