Got us in the lottery for some of their excess hops... Just received 264 lbs. of Simcoe at $2/lb. less than my contracted price. Add onto that that this is from a lot hand-picked by them (I actually thought the Simcoe aroma in their beers has been very nice as of late), and Iím so happy I feel like River Dancing.

They might own some malternatives, but they are a great company and they love the community that they helped to create.

Aweomse! I love that BBC does this. Encourages me to pick up their seasonal mix packs rather often.

I wonder how and why this works though (sorry if itís been addressed). Is it because they have hop contracts for X amount of hops and then sell the poundage that they wonít end up using? Or something else?

Patenting this idea and opening a brewpub with a hops pit to play in. Drown yourself in lupulin.

Essentially, yes. They sent out an e-mail a month or so ago stating that they had 10,000 lbs extra of both Simcoe & Citra from the 2011 harvest. Since weíre getting close to the 2012 harvest and they felt they would get everything they had contracted for in 2012 they decided to spread the wealth & sell the leftover 2011ís to brewers at their cost.

Its a seriously awesome thing for them to have done.

$2 less/lb. Not $2/lb. Even bb doesnít get hops for that cheap.
