If the beer is relatively fresh, you should expect a nose full of noble hop spice and some well concealed booze. Best to enjoy this beer chilled, around 44 degrees in a champagne flute if possible. Ironically the packaging Rogue has chosen for the XS line of beers protects them very well from light and temperature swings, but tends to keep them on the shelves through price.
One of my favorite Rogues and probably one of the first true Imperial Pilsners on the American Craft Beer Scene.

Great beer, but I’ve only had it on tap. I would be very worried about it’s age. I have a bottle of it that is several years old. I’m pretty sure that one is going to remain unopened indefinitely.

Thanks for the replys.
Yes it is fresh. My store had to special order it for me, and they had to wait untill there destributor got it in stock. So, short of buying it at the brewery, it’s as fresh as its going to get.
My fridge is really cold. Should I let the bottel sit out for 10-15 min. untill I open and enjoy?
I will write up a full review once I drink it. I plan on enjoying this tonight.

Under those circumstances you can look forward to one top class beer, plenty of fresh hops, plenty of nice bready dry maltiness, with well concealed alcohol. I’ve luckily only had this stuff fresh but I wouldn’t touch the bottles floating around town now as I know they’ve been here for over a year. Luckily I can get it fresh and on tap almost all the time.

I like my pilsners on the cold side (around 45 degrees).
