or those of you living in states that allow beer sales in grocery stores AND those that have Stop ’N Shop stores, you can buy mix and match six packs for $7.99 (plus taxes/deposit). I know this is common practice in better bottle shops but this was the first time I had seen it in a major supermarket chain.

I rarely go to Stop ’N Shop because I think they are the most expensive of the big chains in my area. But that was something I was happy to see. I picked up a few Saranac and Smuttynose brews in a mix and match set the other day.

Trader Joes does the same thing (though they don’t advertise it) in states that allow it.

pavillions (a.k.a. the upscale vons) did this years ago but quit.
6.99 for a mixed sixer.the problem was the bottles were marked with different color stickers.soon everyone was moving the stickers on different bottles and buying 6 chimays for 6.99. amotivational syndrome

I know that most people here probably don’t do their beer shopping at Wal-Mart but some of the "nicer" ones have a create your own sixer as well as some of the Target’s. 4/2/2008 9:08:16 PM

Trader Joes here sells singles so it’s usually $.84 or $1.00 a bottle and I don’t even need to buy six! I do usually buy full sixers of the Black Hart (got a sixer of BH for $5.99 the other day) and Full Sail LTDs when they have them. thumbs up 4/2/2008 9:12:53 PM

One of the local Winn-Dixie’s here in St. Augustine used to offer a mix-and-match deal for $6.99. However, they sold 4-packs of the Unibroue beers for $7.99. If you loaded up your mix-and-match six-pack holder with the Unibroue beers they would scan the bar code on the cardboard holder and you would get 6 various Unibroues for $6.99.

It was a good deal while it lasted, about a year. However they must have caught on since they no longer offer the mix-and-match deal.

Most of the Food City stores in TN have a "pick six" for around $8. For certain beers it’s cheaper to get six singles in the pick six than to buy a six-pack. 4/2/2008 11:22:15 PM

I work at whole foods here in Vegas as the beer specialist/buyer , and we just started offering 12oz singles so people could pick and choose which beers they want from our 6 pack selection. I think it makes it fun for everyone to do it like this. especially if you want to do a tasting on your own or a small scale beer pairing.I think a lot of stores will start this trend..... 4/3/2008 12:23:26 AM

To tasty. It’s coming to tasty my friend. The big grocers are playing with this here in the Tampa Bay area too. It’s cool.

i’ve only see the fancy Targets do it.

Many Farm Fresh supermarkets here in Hampton Roads sell selected singles, and have for some time. Not always the best selection, but still nice. 4/8/2008 7:11:40 AM
