man oh man the first year or two I worked at Bait Shop I was on every Tuesday night which was "singer songwriter" night, and holy moly I have heard more people cover this than I’d care to think about.

Its been overplayed at this point in large part due to Hootie, but if you can’t get on board with OCMS, then I don’t like you.

So... we all need to like the same things, and if we don’t like the same things, we’re not cool with each other?

How long does it take to get a diploma in R.B.H.S.?

This has been added to the list of banned songs/bands at Dark Horse Brewing, in case anyone was not aware. Yep, right there with Nickelback and AC/DC...

On the other hand, acoustic songs I’d most like to hear in a bar.

Sandman - America
Live and Learn - Clint Black
Three Hits - Indigo Girls
Old Fashion Love Song - Three Dog night
59th St Bridge Song - Simon and Garfunkel
Sittin on the dock of a bay - Otis Redding

Sorry - No Prince

I think more people should cover songs like Sabotage on acoustic night. If they manage to be this entertaining I would listen to it all night.

Edit: Swinging this around to on topic I have to agree about the proliferation of corny folk bands (especially at festivals). What’s wrong with some quiet background music that appeals to the target audience (whether it be hipsters, locals from nearby farms, or the people that frequent a dive bar for the cheap happy hour specials)

Not to rain on anybody’s parade but is this a beer thread or off topic lite? Qualified admin, please move.

No, we are talking about what music we do and dont like to hear at beer venues. It is on topic for industry.

Consider this thread an open letter to the industry folks that book live music.
