Following on from the thread on the main Beer Talk website it made me look at some of the Kent Breweries with very few raters but that I think are decent.

Hop Fuzz in West Hythe
Tonbridge in Tonbridge
Maidstone Brewing Company in Maidstone

Any near you that no one else seems to know about?

Ah, I was hoping you meant ’lick’. Not enough brewery-licking threads these days.

Well, there aren’t many breweries that lack exposure. But there are a few.

I like °Plato and I’m pretty sure almost no one has had beers from them. There’s is an improbably set up: a shipping container in a market in Hackney. I like them for the novelty factor - their beers are decent at best - but the proprietor, a free-spirited man of Canadian extraction, is also a draw.

I would have said Little Beer Co in Guildford a year or two back but some of their recent releases have been hard work!

Shropshire is full of breweries you have never heard of. Try and name some, without cheating.

Is Beowulf well known outside the Midlands?

Their dark beers are especially good.

One even ratebeer seems not to know about is the Kent Brewery in Birling ( http://www.kentbrewery.com/), whose Session Pale (3.7%, not the somewhat stronger Pale) was the single most stand-out beer of a fortnight’s drinking my way round bits of Kent over the holidays. And then we stumbled into it in Margate yesterday, where it proved to be the single stand-out beer of 10 days’ drinking my way around Thanet:

(Lots) More of this sort of thing, please!

Really impressed by what I have had from Bexar County so far. I’m also quite fond of Three Blind Mice, although they (like 70% of UK breweries) put out far too many boring golden beers.
