Loudon County roadtrip 12/27

To follow-up on the other thread on Old 690, I wanted to solidify plans for a beer trip this Saturday to celebrate Drake’s 1.8x5k rate. A possible itinerary would be:

- Start with breakfast in Leesburg or somewhere else convenient to the area (suggestions?)
- Purcelville: Belly Love, Adroit, Corcoran
- Leave flowers on the doorstep of Old 609
- Ashburn: Old Ox
- Gainesville: Tin Cannon
- Manassas: Heritage
- Campground Heaven: Wild Run

Alternatives to this itinerary might include continuing west to Backroom Brewery in Front Royal and Lost River in West Bigod Virginia.

Wide open to suggestions, this is just a starting point.

And maybe Beltway would consider letting this illustrious group make a short visit for this grand occasion? Anyone with connections?

Let’s start at 11 and I’m down with any starting place and any direction.

Hopefully that’s not too late a start, but I have to leave just after 9AM to get there by 11 and I will have worked until 11PM the previous night.

The good news is I also close the next day, so I can stay out late.

Lost River is quite a drive. That would be a good candidate for a separate trip. If anyone ever wants to make a Canaan Valley beer run some other time, I’d be down for that. We could start at Lost River in Wardensville and then head to Blackwater and Mountain State. I’ll bring a banjo. As for the Loudoun County beer run, I hope I’ll be able to catch up to you guys, but that will depend on how early I can escape from work.

No connections with Beltway as far as I’m aware.

I’m trying to maximize the amount of time I’m spending with my brother while he’s in town, so I may bail early on in the afternoon if plans inorganically pop up involving him, unless he joins us.


If we start in Leesburg, I’d suggest Fireworks. However, Belly Love has posted some food on their instagram account: http://instagram.com/bellylovebrewing/, but I have no idea if it’s any good, but if you want to start there and work back into civilization, that could be a choice starting location since we’d be potentially hitting two birds with one stone. Then obviously Adroit/Corcoran.

Then Old Ox. If people feel obligated to hit Lost Rhino, it’s a 5 minute drive from one industrial park to another.

If we shoot straight down 28 from Old Ox then head towards Gainesville, you can hit Tin Cannon. Heritage is like 15 minutes from there. BadWolf is across the street from Heritage, but this past trip was a serious miss for me.

If people somehow end up at Wild Run, Forge is on the way back up to DC.

Going to update the event page later to reflect this but I figure people can join us any time. I can beermail people my cell # so people can check in to see where we are.

What time do people want to start? It’s a bit of a hike from DC as well.

Sounds good to me. I’ll try to get there for the 11am Magnolias meet. I haven’t been there in years.
