Agreed, Dragon’s Revenge is the worst beer I have tasted for a good while - simply shocking! But, back on topic, the Spoons festival beers have started to appear round my way already and the 3 that I have tried have all been pretty decent; Banks’s Howling Wolf 3.8 is very hoppy for a mild, with a good dose of cascade in evidence, Ishii Brewing Minagof Pale Ale tastes and smells like it is brewed at Marstons but has a nice fresh, almost spicey hoppiness which overcomes much of the handicap, and Caledonian Devil’s Advocate - a 4.2% dark lager, is roasty with noble hops but only a slight house trace of diacetyl. Has anyone else picked up anything over the weekend? |
We probably won’t see anything much here until November. They usually use the Festival to clear their cellars of all the rubbish LocAle stuff first that no-one wants to drink. I reckon I will have to travel to get most of it. |
Right gone through the list and assuming the Steenberge beers are the same as before, then I need 33. Folkestone preview of beers this evening and then the 2 Spoons in Canterbury tomorrow. |
Oh and assuming i can spell steenbrugge right |
Well I was certainly wrong, one of our Spoons was all up and running, the other hadn’t had a delivery though. I enjoyed the Ishii Minagof beer, an early contender for me also the Tree Thirsty Beaver. Didn’t think much of the T’Ij Ijbok or the Woodfordes though. |
I’ve just tried the Avery 3 point 5 Session Ale (brewed at Adnams). A cracking effort with ample US hops in both flavour and aroma. |

Sounds like the Avery/Adnams collabobeer is a hit, according to Barm on Twatter. Categorised as a "bitter" though, and not a half-IPA...WTF? |
Half IPA? Oh you mean a pale ale. Yes well everyone knows all beers are pale ales. |
