I have gotten a norwegian friend of my hooked on craft beer, but she is going home to Drammen in a couple of months.

So I was wondering what are the best beers that they have at every vinmonopol and should she shop in Oslo for the likes of Nøgne Ø?
Another thing is how is the price level for Nøgne Ø imperial stout for instance?

Thx in advance :).

She can find quite a few of the best beers in Drammen, but the best railway station. The prices can be found at the Vinmonopolet web site. There she may also order beers to be delivered to the nearest Vinmonopolet branch.

Ah cool thx .

Something happened in the editing here: The best selection is at the Oslo/Vika shop, a few minutes walk from Nationaltheatret railway station. They also have beers not officially listed, including imports from De Molen, Jolly Pumpkin, BrewDog, Cigar City etc. These beers can not be ordered online.

No rationing for red wine on Svalbard, just beer and the hard stuff. The selection is pretty good, so I would not bother dragging wine around Norway for a week.

No ration on wine. If you read about Svalbards history you will soon understand why
But the prices on wine are not that cheap actually. It is a very strange place with strange rules.
Beer are really cheap. I almost had to buy some glasses because I did not belive my eyes.
You can buy your beer ration and keep them in your bag. The prices on beer at the pub are also cheap, so you do not have to drink what you have bought before you get back to the mainland. Customs do not bother about a liter or two too much. They are more concerned about other things that also are illegal at Svalbard :-)

The beer selection is not impressive, though. I did not bother to buy my full ration.

What you got here is the phenomen we like to call "Utepils". Generic macro lagers served outside in the summer - of course to a super high price. For some reason norwegians are ready to pay 3-4 times shop price for a beer if you can have it outdoor in a place with the right name on it... I guess what i try to say is that this is not the beer you’re looking for through your visit here
