Guys, thanks for all the input, everyone´s been very helpful as always.

Andre, Portugal es definitly on my watch list for all the history, food and sun, but probably going to be on a future trip.

Same goes for Scandinavia.

Guess that considering the short trip (and that I really need to chill) I´ll just get a return ticket to Prague for my whole stay and keep my options open for Munich or Viena if I feel like I will cover all I want once there.

Look forward to another annoying post about where to go in Prague within a week or so!

Cheers

If you MUST go to Munich, go there first, or else the beer will be boring there after Prague. Otherwise, a few days in Bamberg and a few days in Prague. They call Bamberg "mini Prague". Make your own comparisons.

I went to Czech recently at the greatest craft beer fest of the country and besides of a very limited number of beers (you can count in one hand), the rest is diacetyl infection and pop-corn. Terrible! Skip it, if you can. Definitely Franconia and its Capital (Bamberg). Very nice cozy city and terrific countryside. Excellent beers (with very few exceptions). What about Belgium? Brugges is so beautiful and Ghent as well. Rome is a must to do when you come to Europe, as for beers and for the city...but I admit I am not impartial being a Romam myself, although I am quite surprised only a guy suggested it to you. Gladly at your disposal for any further tip or advice.

Prague for the stay would be great, so much do do, see, taste, drink.
Also very possible to grab the train to Plzen over the day. Get up early, catch the train to Plzen, attend the Urquell museum and brewery tour, check a few places, take an evening train back to Prague.
Could also quickly get off the train in Beroun on the way to Plzen, visit the brewery there, get on the train again, but would make the day thing a bit tight perhaps.

Been to Prague "many" times and keep going back, always places I want to return to and new breweries and great bars that has popped up.

As for sightseeing not been to a city yet that has impressed me so much, even just by going around on trams to various beerstinations.

One year I did go to Munich first, then train to Plzen, then train to Prague, takes some travel time, but nothing really major.
Munich was nice, but so many places only offer the beer as 1 liter serving, depends if you’re out to drink a lot or visit several places and taste a lot of different. (granted this was years and years ago, could be different these days)

Well, I say, don’t judge Czech beer entirely by what you experienced at a "craft beer" fest. The city is stunningly beautiful, (I call it a "giant Bamberg", where Germans call Bamberg a "little Prague), and is well worth visiting for that as well as the traditional beer and the taverns.

After 11 years living near Bamberg, I finally visited Prague in October. I was somewhat disappointed by the beer, but only because of my particular, specific interest in finding good, malty 4% ABV lagers. These were very few (I was only there 3 nights) and nothing impressive. My own "house mix" of 80% Pilsner Urquell and 20% Störtebeker alc-free beer is just as good or better than any of the 10° beers I found on draught. But the city is very well worth visiting, and the "craft" beer I found in a few specialist bars was excellent.

(And Nürnberg is the capital of Franconia, not Bamberg...unless you mean figuratively.)

The best idea is a few days each in Bamberg and Prague. The only question is travel time: arrival in Bamberg - flying to NUE is easy, and then by U-Bahn and express train to Bamberg. Then from Bamberg to Prague via express train and IC bus...more than 4-1/2 hours.

remember also the cardinal rule of travl: always leave one very important sight unseen, or one major beer undrunk, so that you have an incentive to return.
in other words, don’t worry if you don’t get to see and do everything

All very well if you have time and resources to return! I prefer to cram in case of not returning - always new places to visit but of course I’d love to return to many of the places I’ve visited - don’t need an incentive!

Hey there!
So I didn´t hit up as many places as I thought, but definitely had an enjoyable experience. Went to BeerGeek and Kulový Blesk which were fantastic. Also to Brevnovský Klášterní Pivovar and Klášterní Pivovar Strahov which were nice. Also had a couple of beers at Pivovarský Dum and U Medvidku among various others.

I was in the mood for good Svetly Lezak, so I ended enjoying the most perhaps the least exotic place, Lokal on Dlouhá: really fresh Tanková PU, good ambiance and nice food at very decent prices, can´t go wrong with that.

In Barcelona I really enjoyed NaparBCN, they have good house beers and a very good selection of guest taps (everything from Oxbow to Fantome), and the place was neat.
Thanks everyone for their help on planning the trip!
