nybody know what’s going on the the place ratings part of the site? Everything looks different, and the lists themselves are different. I noticed it has changed several times in the last several days. I thought it was fine before. Great tool.

I’m freaking it out according to plan. Thanks for noticing.

It’s actually going through a fairly big change now so that scoring happens according to the same weighting paradigm that we have with beer. This makes our top places list rock a lot harder.

More big and very positive place changes will be rolling out soon.

These Places changes are really great. The Places rankings are now drastically improved (more reliable and less subject to being swayed by one outlying review). Thanks! 5/13/2008 1:02:25 AM

Looking at the reviews and what floated to the top helped. I appreciated your opinions in helping make sense of it all, especially on a couple NYC places that seemed to generate differing opinions.

Thanks Scott. I still have plans for more major changes here -- adding a value column (prices will become more important) and possibly increasing the overall scale... None of the unequivocally awesome stuff mj has in store for us. I probably won’t make value part of the total score but use it for a $-$$$$ prices rating.

Cheers

Joe

There was also a new top 50 places list that makes me desire more vacation time, very nice improvements. 5/13/2008 8:41:56 PM

I don’t know if you’re done yet, but the best in CT are completely FUBAR. The place you have as #1 is the place that is probably the worst to recommend to an outsider. There are at least 6 places in the state that are more worthwhile to visit than Delaneys.

A brief glance at the ratings for the top places in CT suggest they’re in line with the ratings of RateBeer users. We need more people visiting Connecticut.

i think what Connecticut needs is to become a little more beer friendly to give reason to come and visit. the trend has started to catch here but the state makes it difficult to obtain many good brews.
