or my batch, I used a Kennebunkport Porter from Trader Joe’s

12oz bottle Porter
15oz can tomato sauce
4oz can tomato paste
1 medium onion, minced (or 4T dried flakes)
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons dark molasses
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon California chili powder
1 teaspoon mustard seeds, freshly crushed
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper flakes, freshly crushed

Toss everything in a pot and simmer for 20 minutes. You could caramelize the onions in the olive oil before adding the rest of the ingredients, but the molasses will cover for for you if you don’t. You could probably omit the tomato paste, and just simmer a bit longer.

This smells fabulous simmering and is pretty tasty. I’ll see how it goes over on the hamburgers at a beer tasting tomorrow.

This sounds very good. I am going to be jarring about 12 jars of homemade BBQ sauce on the weekend, and this recipe will be the one, plus some diced chipotle. Cheers!

Hey, this turned out great! Thanks for the recipe!

I have a lot of BBQ sauce now, but I use it on everything, and it beats the shit out of the store bought. And the added chipotles were a nice addition!I have BBQ sauce for a year now!
