So, I just found this on the site :
http://www.ratebeer.com/beerstyles

I like seeing new things, and I love that, after years on RB, I still find new stuff.
however, this raises questions. i think it’s good to have a line in the syles, but the groups don’t seem very balanced.
Some are organized by country ( Belgian Style , american-style ) Whilst others seem to be organized by taste description ( sour beers )

Shouldn’t we pick one ( either taste, or origin ) or both ?

for instance, lambic and it’s relatives are pure Belgian. Yet no Belgian style in this system.
Or we can also categorize hoppy beers as ’ bitter beers’ and stuff like abbey dubbel as ’ sweet beers’ . Just seems nice to have some consistency

If anyone are as sad as me and wonders what the seven "missing" styles are (the beer styles page lists 70 of the 77 beer styles), they are:
Fruit Beer
Low Alcohol
Sahti/Gotlandsdricke/Koduõlu
Smoked
Specialty Grain
Spice/Herb/Vegetable
Traditional Ale

I assume they were deemed to not fit into the listed style groups...

My favorite part is that we have a "Non-Beer" category on RateBEER.com

I also had not seen this page previously. Veeeery interesting.

SO i’d propose to order them in first place by Fermentation, subbed by speciallity, subbed by the actual style .
Far from complete, but something like :

Low fermentation
(as it is now )

High fermentation
--Abbey-styles
---- double
---- triple
---- quad
-- Hoppy beers
---- IPA/DIPA
---- BIPA
---- SIPA
-- grain-forward
---- Barleywine
---- specialty malts
-- additions
----- fruit beer
----- spice/herb/vegetable

and so on

We have an OTHER group for things like Fruit, Spice, Smoked, etc. Only it wasn’t being published because of some page errors.

OP’s spelling has improved greatly. Your mom and I are proud of you, Dylan!

Great! If the Haves List sorting/ordering issue could be sorted (pun intended) soon, it would make me even happier...

This is a cool page. There are a million things that would be cool to add to it--graphical charts behind the lists, noting where most examples fall in terms of color, bitterness, ABV, etc. There are dozens of posters out there explaining this stuff, too; probably too many different ways to skin the cat to seriously consider trying to pick one way of showcasing styles here.
