Ratebeer winter gathering kickoff thread

Since Texas hosted last year that seems unfair. I could see rotating back to Florida since they started the winter gatherings, but what would people think about Atlanta or maybe Sante Fe/Albuquerque?

Is there anyone there that would be willing to put a bid together and organize it for either of those places? In the end, that’s really what it comes down to for any of the locations.

Im all about the Albuquerque/Santa fe deal :) I would definitely help organize that!

So what I’m hearing is that it’s in Texas again?

I’m totally in on the idea of SLC hosting by the way. We might be able to get quite a show going. Any other thoughts?

If the majority doesn’t have an issue with the cold, though, I would encourage Salt Lake City to put in a bid. Lots of good beer there that doesn’t get a lot of attention, and a great crew to potentially organize it.

I second SLC. It’s not even that cold there. It’s almost desert!

Google some of the old RBSG/RBWG threads (anyone have them bookmarked?) for examples of past proposals. Then they get posted here and voting is moderated by Oakes (or was for RBSG anyway).

Between the beer bars and the brewpubs, there’s plenty of craft beer. The logistical problem is that there are not any locals to coordinate it.

New Orleans would be amazing, and I know Avenue Pub would take care of us - but I don’t know that there are any/enough locals to organize such a thing. If it’s in NO or TX or anywhere within a moderate/reasonable drive, I’m in... okay, well, I can drive just about anywhere.

(but like others have said, I’m from northern IL, so I’m not spending money and driving/flying to anywhere cold/snowy - I’ve had enough in my lifetime)
