Sex sells. Not sure why they use female names though.

I personally do not rate Mr Whiteheads ciders. Tend to be a bit too sour & acidic for me. Not surprised Danes didnt like it.

I’m pretty sure they mainly (exclusively?) use eating apples, whch don’t provide the body or tannins to carry a lot of acidity without seeming unbalanced.

Personally I’ve flagged Mr Whitehead’s ciders. I won’t drink them. Just thin as far as I am concerned.

If I ever make one I’ll call it Penelope’s Porker.

West Country, English/Welsh borders and Wales. All synonymous with pig rearing. Also big cider producing areas. A lot of cider producers are also farmers.

As for female names, well, it attracts males and makes women feel that it’s something for them. That’s why male webchat people tend to give themselves female names. Men will flirt and women will feel safe. Simple psychology.

I’ve just cooked chops with apples for the woman upstairs, mainly because I know she likes pork in cider (co. Humphrey Littleton)

My cider would be called Jeremy’s Grunter.

I find cider easier to rate, especially if faced with a handful of BIB stuff.

There’s a lot of different variations knocking around and often M&S regionally have different varieties.

I’m not a huge cider drinker but I occasionally like a cider (or, better, a perry) for "pudding" after a beering sesh.

Had an aged single varietal Vilberie at a beer festival in the summer which was unlike anything I had drunk before.

Was it locally produced or was it a Travelling Vilberie?

Sorry...
