Dave, do you know already what time you will be taking the train to Huddersfield on thursday, 15.36 or 16.36? Or should we just agree to meet each other in the Star? And what time are others going?
PS I’m still trying to find out how to fit all those beers in my suitcase in such a way they don’t break.. I guess I’ll have to bring suspicious amounts of towels along.

I’m on the 1636 tonight and the 1536 tomoro - think there will be a few of us tomoro
for those that haven’t been to Star fest before, the format is that the first 46 beers are on handpumps in a marquee, and go on sale tonight until they run out. the others are sold on a rotating basis through the pumps in the pub, about 10 at a time.
I require 31 outside so I’ve easily got 2 nights drinking even without looking at the bar inside (oh for a third/pint glass...)
I find the best way to transport beer on planes is to wrap the bottles in the t-shirts I’m going to wear...

I’d suggest pack in a newspaper first and than in bubble wrap plastic (goedkoop verkrijgbaar in diverse bouwmarkten, zoals de Praxis), in a plastic bag packed between clothes and/or towels. What also helps is packing in into a sock and then in bubble wrap. Worked fine on a flight to and from Copenhagen last year.

more details. But im not sure we have time to squeeze in both, the Grove before hitting the star.
SO how long to get 3:36 train, hit both bars for a very swift half, grove for 2 halfs and bottle pick up then to star?

well, the 3.36 train will get in about 5. the train will deposit you by the Head of Steam, but at the far end of the platform the Station Tavern/King’s Head is much better. From there, 5-10 mins to walk to Grove, then Grove to Star lessthan 10 mins (unless you stop off in Rat & Ratchet)
I’ll be leaving Star just before 10, and walk up to Lockwood for the last train to Sheffield (starts at Hudds, but Lockwood marginally closer to Star)
