Not sure who invited you into this conversation or the point of your post. The last time I didn’t live in California was in the first half of 2000, I lived in Buffalo.

If the former, the fact that the last two RBSGs have been in California pretty clearly means you’ve had a relatively easy opportunity to go, whereas Joe or myself, being from NY, have a more difficult time getting out. And getting to my point, your question to Joe is loaded and really means nothing. My question was rhetorical FWIW.
Both and neither. Let’s vote based on the proposals and the benefit to the site members as a whole, not where we live and convenience. NYC is going to result in a much lower turnout of non-locals because its a hassle and its expensive.

I totally agree with your sentiment except for your last sentence, which is a myth we’re trying to dispel. This will probably come up in the actual proposal thread in more detail, so I won’t be doing that here.

Bump because the tension is killing me. There’s actually a snowball’s chance in hell of me being able to attend this year, so I’m anxious to see the proposals. Alas, it looks like I’m a non-voting bystander, but I’ll count on the sage wisdom of past attendees to do the right [cough]Michigan[cough] thing.
