I’d love to see a RBSG in Michigan. Lots of great breweries around those parts! Good luck!! 7/31/2009 6:22:14 PM

Here’s a little teaser....this might be one of the stops (we’re working on this and many more):

hit up joet or oakes for some info maybe. But basically a proposal of what you could do. This is rarely a one person job and you would want to talk to your local RBians about it as well.

Anyone doing a proposal should be in tight with all the brewers and places we’d visit (like christian and chris and rbsg 08)...I don’t want to end up being treated like just another group of retards on a tour like some of the bay area places treated us. This being said, mike can probably pull that off with a nyc gathering because mike is a resourceful lil’ bastard.

Who besides Anchor treated us badly?

Atlanta won’t happen. Not enough draw brewery wise to come to Atlanta and not enough locals to host it.

Mike changed my view of NY RBSG. NY city wont have much draw brewery wise either but there are enough breweries to visit. The tickers will enjoy it and it will be something new for out of towners. You could do a nice brewery crawl on a Friday or Saturday and fill the other times with bars and beer shopping.

However, it could be a very good RBSG otherwise. Plus, people can really do personal stuff and just meet up here or there.

But I would like to see some competition, anyone else looking to do it? Is Philly tired out? We have no Boston crew. What’s that leave Cleveland and D.C.?

There’s been idle chat about doing a Richmond/Charlottesville, VA thing. Not GREAT brewery wise but better than you’d think. We have enough locals willing to do the legwork, it’s a fairly major transportation hub (relatively cheap flights, intersection of 2 interstates and hotel rooms can be had cheaply), we may be able to find cheap facilities for events, and the homebrew on tap in maniac’s apartment is killer. Idle talk so far, but one of these years we may just do something about it.

Well, mainly just Anchor but I like to exaggrerate..and bear republic was pissed that they shut down their production facility and we didn’t even go to it, russian river should have treated us like lost abbey did last year but other than that vintage temptation, russian river was meh’...especially since ratebeer has done more to spread the word of russian river than a billion dollars of marketing could have done.

Anchor didn’t treat us badly; they just didn’t know who we were. The guy that gave us the tour handed me his business card. I noticed that there wasn’t an email address on it. I asked him about it and he said that most folks there don’t have email or computer access. You can always call them...

I thought I would really get hosed by missing the RR part of that day. Turns out once I heard about it I didn’t care at all. So yeah... do work, Michigan.

I would also like to see this. Especially if I can try Glacier Big Woody.
