om (Magicdave6) has been fighting hard to get things rollin’, but there seems to be zero enthusiasm surrounding it. Nobody interested in organizing, and not many showing interest in attending either.
This is contrasted by two excellent proposals for the US gathering next year with voting going on this very instant.
Should we just realize that we’re a much smaller crowd over here and that we cannot really gather interest in a yearly summer gathering?
Food for thought...

I think part of it is we do have some great events scattered through the year, thats accessable to most of us.
GBBF,
Zythos (+pre)
De Molen (lets hope thats regular)
Stockholm Beer festival
Copenhagen Beer fest
LCRBG
Manchester Winter Festival
Naming the ones that i would like to do (even if i havent managed them all)
Plus in the UK most people are in strinking distance of 3+ CAMRA festivals during the year.
I think its would be a shame not to have a European Gathering, but i know next years gonna be tricky for me, and any one i do will have to be based round a Family Holiday (just like i did at Pilzen)
Maybe we should try somethign Ratebeerian based round another event.
there were more of us at the De Molen festival that this years gathering pulled in.
But your right we definitly are a smaller crowd, so its more difficult to get the big interest
especally when some of you slope of to RBSG as opposed to RBESG

Bloody hell Henrik, you’re as bad as Tom!!!
Even if we have it in June that’s still 7 months away. I’m sure something will come together. And if it doesn’t, I’ll do your CPH one on my own! Alex is still saying he’s up for hosting in Rome, I just don’t seem to be able to get him to make a bloody post on the forum! I’ll call him later and get a definite.
Patience people!
Oh and as for the lack of interest so far, I’m sure that will come once we have an official voting thread.

Even if a formal RBESG doesn’t take place, could we try to get a RB Grand Tasting connected to another event?
I think the tasting on Saturday morning at the Tulip Hotel following De Molen festival could be the prototype for something 3 or 4 times the size.

I was hoping it wouldnt get to this, but it looks to be going this way. We could just exstend another event, such as GBBF pre chriso’s tasting or one of the big ones in europe or whatever.
I thought the Copenhagen proposal looked like an amazing week, but no one seemed to reply apart from me. Your all on glue if you think that doesnt sound like a most epic win!!!
BTW it is Tom here but i just relised im on Glyns laptop logged in as him.

Canceling sounds like the worst idea ever. This will probably be my last year in Europe (for a long time at least) and I would love to finally meet up with more of the Ratebeerians. I can’t believe that there would be thought of canceling when we haven’t even reached the new year. I’m really busy at work until the new year, not to mention not that close to Rome, but if I have to I will go set-up something there or/in Milan just to keep this one a go.....Shawn

Hm - in my book, you can’t cancel something that is not yet in the calender...
I think we definately should have a summer gathering in Europe.
But it could be made at low countries, if that is extended - which I’ve been a spokesman for before, since it nags me to have two events that obviously competes with each other and lowers the attendence for both, which I find is a shame.

Ok good show we seem to have gathered some interest.
However we have only had one proposal (copenhagen) which to me sounds totally amazing, but no one else has said anything. Perhaps we should go back to the origional thread and start putting ideas together again.
Henrik, were you actually putting forward a proposal there or was that just for the banter?
Mes go smash the granny then come down to the rake for some kriekenlambic.

This is the reason I didn’t respond yet. Of course I want to be at RBESG ’10, but how can I say "yes I will attend" if I don’t even know yet where and when it is?! Both Copenhagen and Rome sound great to me btw.
