After just looking at some ratings Hill Farmstead has 13 beers that are rated 100% in overall and style. I think thats quite amazing coming from one brewery, but I have not had anything from them. Does the beer live up to the ratings, or is it all hype?

Good + Hype = Great

Itís only good.

Thatís my scientific conclusion.

(Iíve never tried and I wouldnít mind a bottle...)

Yes. Iíve been drinking Shaunís beer since his first batches coming out of Vermont and before the hype (I think I had one of the first glasses of Hill Farmstead on tap at a bar outside of the brewery). I and everyone Iíve been with drinking any of the beers coming from Greensboro Bend has been completely blown away. Ratebeerians, Beeradvocates, old time Vermonters, my wine-drinking mother, unaffiliated bar employees... his product is second to none. Sure, maybe some of my numbers are a bit inflated and call me a homer if you will, but whether theyíre all 4.4 or all 4.2, it doesnít matter, theyíre just all incredible, and across so many styles.

Great beers from what Iíve had. New Glarus great? Brew some not popular styles I donít care for and make me like them. Then, we can judge.

This. Though I didnít bother to try the HF Cascadian Dark Ale. They are spot on otherwise.

I donít think I have had one that wasnít great. Some made it to Europe, for others I traded, and I plan on doing so for the next releases as well. Delicious and absolutely lives up to the hype.

In a word: yes. In a few more words: not only do they make phenomenal beers, but they do so across a range of styles, most notably saison, IPA/APA, stout/porter/imperial stout/porter. Everytime I have one of their beers, I think to myself, This is one of the best [insert style] Iíve ever had. Iím comfortable saying that there are very few breweries making beer on the same level as HF.
