I was in Houston, TX last week and decided to go to The Flying Saucer for some beers. I walk in and lo and behold the men from BrewDog are standing right there offering samples of Punk IPA. I met James and a few of the other guys and of course the first question out of my mouth was, "Do you have any of the penguin with you?" They laughed and told me to come back in 45 minutes. So I sat patiently until I saw a small crowd buzz around their table and I quickly slid over and grabbed my shot glass full.

Damn. Damn, damn, damn. Made WWS taste like a bottle of Fiji Water. A smoky, meaty, viscous glob.

Guess I was in the right place at the right time. That is of course until it started snowing. In Houston.

I’m pissed that I somehow missed that this was even made. I would have ordered some for sure (despite the huge price tag). Brewdog doesn’t always hit a home run but they usually hit a nice solid line drive if nothing else and they always do it in their own way which is what I respect about them the most. Hopefully I’ll be able to get this one in a trade somehow. 12/6/2009 7:45:13 PM

Your comments describe the experience, but don’t really say whether or not you liked it. So, did you like it? 12/6/2009 8:29:53 PM

Really?

Haha, I asked for it for Christmas. We’ll see, but I doubt I’ll get it.

I did enjoy it. I only got to taste about a shot glass full but what I tasted was more akin to a cognac than a beer. It was still and black. Lots of smoked meats, peat and booze. As thick a mouthfeel as you’re likely to ever encounter.

Wow. there were only 500 of them if i remember right. Suprised any of them made it across the pond.

My local Shop sold out before they were even delivered. Demands been pretty high.
