South Africa

I just felt that we need a discussion about South Africa and the booming brewery scene.
Going from a handful of breweries to almost a hundred in just a few years is pretty good I think.

I have a hard time keeping my brewery list and maps updated

There is definitely a boom, but I feel that there are some breweries that should either close shop or get professional assistance!

I love the variety and I hope that we can get more great beers in South Africa, from South Africa.

The craft beer boom here is amazing! Dog and fig and devils peak is truly amazing breweries. But, i also feel that there is a lot of inexperienced brewers. I have never had as much faulty and infected beer as here in ZA. Also its weird to see that so many craft breweries tends to stay in 4-5 ABV range on all kinds of beers.

Thanks guys. I’m looking forward to my visit. Not sure if any of you JNB guys get together for tastings but I’m happy to bring some beers.

Agreed @ aleksander9 with regards to ABV.

But what a fortunae posistion to be in as a consumer. Finally, we have some choices and the options keep expanding. It has also reignited my own homebrew and I have no scaled to 35l batches haha :)
