yeah, they did say that. they also said they are getting out orders placed after mine first. maybe its a translation type-o, but it also said that my package was delivered, and then puts it on me to contact them and inform them if it has not so that it can be hashed out. seriously, how unprofessional is that? i run my ebay business with more legitimacy. since we cannot figure out who we have and have not shipped beer to for some reason, we will wait for those that we did not to contact us and tell us they have not received it. great idea.

i am still glad to get these beers as well, but when people represent themselves as professionals i expect a professional level of service when paying for it. i am glad they offer this too us, but they need to figure it out. it’s really not a very complicated thing to do really, especially on such a small scale as they are doing. i also made a living for 8 years as a shipping professional, so i am def overly critical in this area.

I dunno man...I placed my third order 21 March and I got it today. I don’t typically get boxes from California that quick! So far, I’m pretty happy with them. Sorry if your experience has been different.

yeah, i am confident i will get my beers, i just think basically they shouldn’t have sent out that email revealing that snafu. when a snafu like that happens its usually better to keep it under wraps and solve the problem internally.

that said, its not that big of a deal really, and i still can’t wait to get my beer.

Sir WAIVERS, I dear you to communicate me your order N° in A PM. All our orders get out of the building within a week max. We have growing pains and we communicate to our customers. Every error we make is transmitted directly to all of our customers, even the ones not concerned, so everyone can understand what where up against.

We have now more than 580 customers in less than three months web-shop activity. We brew, bottle, pack, ship, work almost around the clock, just to serve everybody.

Have you ever imagined we do this stuff just with three people?

We work 18 hour shifts a day just to please everybody, do you think we are happy reading some of the crazy negative stuff going around here, when I know we got the utmost out of it just to please every customer.

So yes, I dare you to communicate me your order n° and if you have been subjectively negative, I’m sure to ban you for life from the shop, that is my promise.

Cheers to you too,

Urbs

Ouch!

Before this spirals ever farther out of control into an internet rage, I’d like to suggest that it’s possible that some of the frustration and difficulty on both sides is rooted in problems of translation and language. Even this last bit of a "challenge" from Urbain is perhaps coming off more confrontationally than it was intended.

I don’t know. I don’t want to speak for either side here, because I know we have some class individuals on both sides and it’s obvious that there have been some frustrations for all, but I would just strongly encourage all involved to try to let cooler heads prevail and proceed with any further correspondence or public discussion VERY carefully. We’re too good for this stuff. And it’s just beer!

Come on, guys. I can’t believe any of this should really be so antagonistic.

I saw the Westvleteren on their website this morning and could have ordered it. But Westvleteren’s beers are way too clean & simple for me, with no cellarability. They are just so boring compared to Struise, I couldn’t imagine wasting valuable box space that could go to Struise. So I just ordered more Struise instead.

you’re probably right, but Westvleteren does need help. We were able to ruin the Ebay market in just two months. "Help thy Neighbour" has always been our philosophy. And if we are right, we, and we only will be able to stabilize Westvleteren beers. My hair comes up right when I see a crate of Westvleteren beer being sold at 670$ at belgianshop.com and/or at 12 euros a bottle at the crackedkettle.com or 250 euro a six pack on ebay.

Gentlemen, besides brewing drinkable beers, I’m at war, and I will rest once I have beat all those opportunists, and you can help me, by buying at a reasonable price at our place.

One problem, we do not have stock all the time, but be patient, and stock whill prevail... have confidence for once in your life. Check it out, case to case, I know when I’m wrong, but I know when I’m right.

Only thing can happen is the Abbey does not back me up, but then I learned again...

cheers,

Urbs

You could be right if we would not read our mails daily. Every complaint is threated within a day, with addition of tracking number and exact location of every parcel.

One has to understand that our shop has been growing like mushrooms every day... we already bought more packing chips in the last three weeks than class room 3 can handle in volume. We are honest people, and we communicate in an honest way, so people can be comprehensive. Not one customer had to wait more than 2 weeks before his parcel arrived. And if there were such few cases, it was due to the fact, New York was snowed under this winter, and we couldn’t do fuck about it, same for Chicago, Boston, and Maine. At certain intervals, parcels got blocked up to 10 days over-there, are we to blame?

Probably, but then "Waivers" I would appreciate it when you write me a personal mail about your findings, so I have the chance to defend myself, explain you the situation, before you hang me publicly on this site.

Also this is a charitable event from Struise which is something Westvletern advocate unlike those greedy merchants which we read about so much. That is entirely why the monks are cutting down on their production. They don’t promote greed. 3/29/2010 5:09:27 PM

Wavers, what is your E-BAY business? This is a REAL business at Struise where REAL people brew and are dependable on. This is not a gimmic. The brewery is VERY small and demand is VERY high. The hectrolitres are actually on the bottles for you to judge its capacity.

The Internet also may always crash. Browser are unstable. Browses collapse. Also coding software may have script error bugs. Your computer may experience error bugs. Time lagging and hanging may occur. It may not have refreshed the status of the beer when you ordered it and such like. This is giving my opinion.

Sold out?

When a product on the shop arrives at "0" stock, it automatically is withdrawn from the shop. Not everybody agrees with this way of working but a lot of other customers do get frustrated too when a publicity for a brand is on and no stock is available... Cheers, Urbs
