I think that’s one that will get much much better with some age.

Did you trade for it, or find it in Mass?

i was thinking of cellaring a barley wine, but i just love the hops too much to do that.thumbs upcheers!

That one isn’t nearly as hoppy as most American barley wines

I have cellared a couple of Alesmith Decadence 2006 and a couple of Olfabrikken Porters. I hope they age well. 11/20/2007 4:15:38 PM

I’m with you as far as preferring hopped up barley wines as opposed to malt heavy ones.

I don’t mean to disappoint you, but I found the hop level this year’s Old Stock to be lacking. I found it to be overly sweet and alcoholic, so on that note it might be a good beer to cellar for a while.

Damn, you took my idea :)

I would say The Beast is a good candidate this year, because it tastes off right now. Too much strange fruit flavors and aromas coming out, and it’s too hot. 06 The Beast is so much better right now than the 07. Of course, it helps that you like the beer in the first place.

GI BCS, like others have said.

07 Old Stock, the malt flavors tasted a little immature right now. I’ve often liked fresh barley wines in the past, but this tastes like it could benefit from some "rounding of the edges."

Saint Arnold DR#5, awesome brownie-like flavor right now, which i find enjoyable, but it’s another beer that tastes like it could go places, and not just downhill.

TheDruid :0 i personally don’t think the BA wee heavy or numbskull should be aged at all. They need to be drank soon. Decadence can hold up for a while. DL 07 Definately needs a lot of time. I just had an 06 and think that still needs more.

I second the Ten Commandments. Its gonna be so good once it dries out. Judgement day also gets better and better. I have quite a few from when it was first bottled, and they are starting to taste great. Sounds like Gift of the Magi is gonna be a keeper too, with the big ABV and brett. MMMM

Newport Storm ’07 should age well for a number of years. Others I can think of are Abbaye de St. Bon Chien 2006, Anchor OSA 2007, + the usual suspects (Thomas Hardys, Samichlaus, Bigfoot, etc...). 11/20/2007 5:43:31 PM
