this list seems total BS. What about Denver, or one of the Ohio cities? D.C.? D flipping C? Yard House at LA Live is the only reason L.A. is on this list.

Whichever way the arrow points, we have neither here in DC... Unless i am missing something. That is, we dont prosuce good beer. Maybe i am confused because this isnt a "best 6 US cities for local beer"... Which seems like a much more useful list to compile. Maybe i am being unfair.

A couple things that might exp[lain things...

1) These are metro areas and not city limits

2) These are not just local beers and brewers but the availability of great beers and

3) great bars/others retailers

Just United States... Nothing official yet, just a straight tally but this is what it looks like!

1. 191 PHILLY
2. 167 Chicago
3. 161 San Diego
4. 135 Minneapolis
5. 131 DC
6. 113 Los Angeles

Kerry showed me around Philly and I must say it f’ing rocks even though we shit the bed on d’nicks

The greatest part of the score comes from what has been reported as available in these cities.

Criteria was number of top 800 beers reported, number of retailers in top 800 places, number of brewers in the top 800, number of beers in top 800 by style.

Still glad to hear that even though D’Nics closed so damn early it was a great couple of days for you. So much more i wish we couldve seen. Cheers!

I figured as much. Id love to see, for comparison, where DC would fall on a list of top rated, locally produced beer. Id venture to gues it would be at the bottom of the barrel.

Having not been to these 6 cities, but having been to both Portland and Seattle, and those places haven’t made the top 6, all I can say is "sh!t these 6 cities must be melonfarming wonderful for beer, I must pack my bags and visit NOW as I’m sure my body will explode with delight." Wow.
