For Portland, I would say the Holiday Ale Festival is the worthiest. |

Originally posted by chriso Not if you get in line at 2am, and for the most part bottles start getting opened around 4:30am - 5am so it just turns into a 7+hr bottle share |

I’m a fan of smaller fests. If I had to pick one North America favorite, it would be the berliner weisse festival at Peg’s Cantina - low alcohol sours with tropical fruit, consumed while sitting under palm trees to escape the heat. |
My list of ones I have been to: |
Oh yeah, I forgot about the Great Alaska Barleywine festival. Great fest, pretty much all the brewers from across Alaska show up. It’s not just barleywines, of course. It’s in January, so there are no tourists or cruise ships. Temp is a very consistent 25 below, but it’s 72 degrees and dry insid the fest hall. The brewers all stay at the Historic Anchorage Hotel, as did I; they all brought beers to share, and we all barhopped around town in between festival opening hours. |
Out of the ones I’ve been to, Great Taste is definitely tops. Pre and post parties have made it a weekend event worth travelling from anywhere in the world if you enjoy beer. |
