Its been going on for awhile now. Iím getting bored trying new beers, and spending money on stuff that might be slightly different but still the same. If I had more Rome I would just make more own home brew. However I just donít and seem to still be Chasing the dragon. One more new beer will excite me, but they donít. I want to like beer still but Iím tired of it. Still have the want for it but just tired. Ever feel like that?

I can relate. Ive been trying to get more excited about drinking what is available to me locally. Trading can be a lot of fun and I do like trying new things but a lot of the time it seems that I could have had something equally or almost equally as good from my local store. I do like going out of town and pulling up to the bar counter and seeing a bunch of stuff that I havent tried.

I think Iím slowing down..

Narrowing it to really hunting for only two things now (Sourhead ticks, Illinois ratings).

Itís the buying that is the hardest part to kick..

I love ticking, but it does get a bit stale at times. Make some trades or take a break or a bit... It will come back.

Switch it up. Get some gin, scotch or rum. Drink local beers you know you can trust.

Then stop doing it. Go to The Old Toad with some friends, have some old favorites, and have a good time.

Iím enjoying place ticking more now. Travelling and meeting people is as much fun as (if not more than) trying new beers. Actually one of my goals for 2013 is to get caught up on my place ratings, which Iím estimating will be around 500 by the time I actually get them all in.

Not sure about the more Rome part, but this is a good description of "chasing the dragon":
